Saab Automobile AB, better known as Saab, is a Swedish car manufacturer owned by Dutch automobile manufacturer Spyker Cars NV. Saab is an offshoot of Svenska Aeroplan AB that builds aircrafts; a heritage that explains the aircraft-inspired Saab automobiles.
Since its inception in 1947, Saab has been known for innovation, pioneering significant advancements in ergonomics, green technology, safety and turbocharging. In as early as 1958, Saab GT 750 was the first car fitted with seatbelts as standard. Saab was the first manufacturer
to produce a turbo engine with wastegate to control boost. Another 'world-first' for Saab was the passenger compartment air filter (pollen filter). Saab’s ComSense concept was crafted to delay low priority alerts and help reduce distraction. Saab’s Cross-wheel drive boasts of an
advanced all-wheel drive system with eLSD. These are merely a few instances.
Safety has always been high priority in the design of Saab cars. They are subjected to grueling tests to ensure highest safety standards and rating. The cockpit-inspired interiors of all Saab cars are designed for intuitive interaction with the driver. All modern Saabs have a floor mounted ignition for safety reasons. Ergonomically too, the ignition's location next to the parking brake lever, gearshift, and seatbelt, saves time.
Saab is everything an intellectual, creative mind demands. Indeed it is anything, but ordinary!
